Food substitue

I have always maintained that I am not one for telling people what to do. But I do like to share my discoveries as I believe that weight loss or healthy eating is all about supporting one another. A colleague and I support each other, offering tips, sharing and just basically motivating one another. I have found this very usual especially on days when I really don’t feel like exercising or just want to eat junk, she reminds of my summer goal – to have a 3 pack. A bit over ambitious but I will get there. Below are some tips I picked up on various online sites based on articles, recipes, etc. The list is not conclusive as I will be updating this particular post as and when I find other useful tips. In the meantime I hope you find this useful. I know some may seem a bit weird but rested assumed I have actually tried all of them and the meals I have cooked have turned out to be really yummy. The list also covers low carb recipes
Butter = Applesauce, natural or Greek Yogurt especially baking
Pasta = Zucchini (courgette) ribbons, perfect in lasagne too
Vegetable oil = Canola, Olive, Sunflower oil coconut oil
White flour = Whole wheat flour, Gluten free, Rye or Rice flour, almond flour
*Nuts = Dried fruits, sultanas or raisings
Crisps = baked version
Fries/ mash = Butternut squash, sweet potatoes in place of regular potatoes
Eggs = replaces crust or base
Banana = Carrot, it is lower in fat & contains less sugar compared to banana
Wrap = Romaine or Ice berg lettuce – ideal if you are trying to curb your carb intake
Cream – Greek/natural yogurt
Mustard (Dijon or English) – use as a spread in place of butter in sandwiches
Sugar = ideally brown or demara for cooking & in beverages

Please feel free to post your comments on the outcome or if you have additional tips that might be useful for the rest of us.
