Happy New Year.

Happy New Year, I trust you had a good break. I am having a lovely time – I am still on leave, returning to the world of work next Monday. Christmas was amazing, for the first time ever I baked two cakes for the big day – Lemon Drizzle & Banana cake with Butter Creamy frosting. It had to be the ‘ full fat’ version as I didn’t feel it was right to subject everyone to my healthy lifestyle, needless to say the cakes went down a treat – thanks to good ole you.tube where I got the ideas from.

What has surprised me is the fact that I didn’t put on any weight even with all the ‘treats’, I later discovered that it was to do with the Paleo diet even though I was eating the meals every other day. Now you know I am not one for fad diets so I am not going to recommend this as it is not only expensive but should not be followed to the full. Like I mentioned in one of my last entries Paleo recipes are great if you want to reduce your weekly carb intake, but for only for a short period of time. You still need carbs as part of your general wellbeing.

So has anyone been making the usual New Year health resolutions? I am not going to say don’t but I will say don’t be too ambitious. If you are not physically activity I wouldn’t recommend paying for a full year’s gym membership, go with the saying ‘baby steps’, in other words, start small. Retrieving one of my usual statements, go with what you enjoy, for example, if you like walking, swimming, running, cycling then start with those. When you feel confident enough go to the gym or exercise classes, but go with the taster before committing yourself to the full year’s membership because once you have signed on those dotted lines there is no turning back.

I have attached parts of my fridge contents, the meats, breads & other freeze-able items are in the freezer; call it a bit of motivation. I usually take out the meats from the original packaging, dividing them in freezer bags so I can take out only what I need. As I am on semi Paleo diet I tend to cook, but I do cook my faves in a ‘big’ way, eg: Bolognese sauce, curry & chilli con carne. I don’t freeze them because I only eat them within a week.

I think that is enough of my rambling for now. Please free to leave your comments, tips and advice welcome. Please note any form of advertising will be removed and the person will be banned permanently. There are other blogs for that sort of thing, this blog is personal in other words, it is solely for people who are serious about healthy lifestyle.

Until my next post, stay healthy and don’t beat yourself if you fall off the wagon, just get back up again.
